Terms of Service

Effective Date: April 8, 2026 · Last Updated: April 22, 2026

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Elenkia (“the Platform”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service (“Terms”). If you do not agree to these Terms, you may not use the Platform. We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time; continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.

2. Eligibility

  • You must be at least 16 years of age to create an account.
  • You must provide accurate information during registration and keep your account credentials secure.
  • You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
  • During the beta period, registration requires a valid invite token issued by Elenkia. Invite tokens are non-transferable.

3. Account and Identity

  • Each person may maintain only one account. Operating multiple accounts (“sockpuppeting”) to manipulate scores, jury outcomes, duologs, or community perception is strictly prohibited.
  • Your display name and username must not impersonate another person, entity, or public figure.
  • You may not sell, transfer, or share access to your account.

4. Platform Purpose and Conduct Standards

Elenkia exists to promote structured, good-faith discourse. All users are expected to engage honestly and respectfully, even in disagreement.

4.1 Prohibited Content

You may not post content that:

  • Constitutes threats of violence, targeted harassment, or is against the law.
  • Is sexually explicit, obscene, or depicts the exploitation of minors.
  • Contains personally identifiable information of another person without their consent (“doxing”).
  • Is spam, commercial solicitation, or automated/bot-generated content presented as human participation.
  • Infringes on copyrights, trademarks, or other intellectual property rights of third parties.

4.2 Good-Faith Engagement

You are expected to:

  • Engage with the substance of arguments, not attack the person making them.
  • Cite sources where reasonably possible in duologs.
  • Accept outcomes of jury adjudication with civility, even when you disagree.
  • Not use the Platform’s systems (flicking, voting, scoring) as instruments of personal vendetta or coordinated harassment.

5. Duolog System

5.1 Participation

A duolog is a structured, one-on-one exchange between two users. By accepting a duolog request, you commit to participating in good faith through the agreed-upon format.

5.2 Immutability

Once a duolog entry is submitted, it is final and immutable. You may not edit or delete individual entries. This immutability ensures that challenges (flicks) remain anchored to the text they reference and that the historical record of discourse is preserved.

5.3 Publication

Completed duologs may be published by either participant. Published duologs are publicly visible and attributed to both participants. By participating in a duolog, you consent to its potential publication.

6. Flicking System

Flicking is the mechanism by which participants challenge specific portions of their opponent’s entry for logical, evidential, or rhetorical misconduct. Flicks must target specific text and genuinely correspond to the category selected. Filing frivolous or retaliatory flicks undermines the system and may result in score penalties.

ColorCategoryDescription
RedPersonal AttackLabels which dodge the argument or are non-constructive
OrangeFalse InformationDemonstrably factually incorrect claim
YellowLacking CitationClaim that lacks a required source, has an incomplete citation, or whose source does not support the claim
GreenStrawmanMisrepresenting the opponent’s position and attacking that false version
BlueInternal ContradictionStatements within the same duolog that contradict each other
PurpleLoaded QuestionQuestion that embeds an unsupported or unestablished assumption

7. Jury System

Jury members adjudicate contested flicks and their verdicts directly affect participant scores. Jury verdicts must reflect the independent judgment of each individual juror.

7.1 Sharevoting (Prohibited)

Sharevoting is any practice in which a juror delegates, outsources, or shares their adjudication responsibility with non-jurors. This includes audience polling, vote delegation, proxy influence, and coordinated voting among panel members. Violations may result in permanent revocation of jury eligibility, significant score penalties, or account suspension.

8. Reputation Score

Your reputation score is derived from duolog participation, milestone achievements, and penalties from sustained flicks. The scoring formula is publicly documented and applied uniformly. You may not attempt to manipulate scores through sham duologs, pre-arranged flick patterns, or alternate accounts.

9. Content Ownership and License

You retain ownership of all content you post on Elenkia. By posting content, you grant Elenkia a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, display, reproduce, and distribute your content in connection with operating the Platform. We will not sell your content to third parties.

10. Privacy

Elenkia collects only information necessary to operate the Platform: account information, content you create, engagement data for feed personalization, and uploaded images. We do not track you across other websites, sell your data to advertisers, build advertising profiles, or use your content to train machine learning models without explicit opt-in consent.

If you delete your account, we will remove your personal information. However, in the event that the account of one duolog participant is deleted, duologs published by the other participant will remain visible. Additionally, published duologs may be retained in anonymized form to preserve the integrity of the public discourse record.

11. Enforcement and Moderation

Elenkia administrators may remove content, restrict features, adjust scores, suspend accounts temporarily, or terminate accounts permanently in response to violations of these Terms. Users may appeal moderation decisions by contacting support@elenkia.com.

12. Intellectual Property

The Elenkia platform — including its duolog system, flicking mechanism, jury adjudication process, scoring system, and associated user interfaces — is proprietary. Elements of the Platform may be subject to pending patent protection. You may not copy, reverse-engineer, or create derivative works based on the Platform’s systems or technology.

13. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability

The Platform is provided “as is” and “as available.” We make no warranties, express or implied, regarding reliability, availability, or fitness for a particular purpose. Elenkia is not responsible for user-generated content. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Elenkia shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Platform.

14. Changes to These Terms

We may revise these Terms at any time. Material changes will be communicated via email or a prominent notice on the Platform at least 14 days before taking effect. Your continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
